Hey everyone! If you follow me on Instagram (@stylemebea), you may already know this but, I moved to LA! This is something I have always wanted to do and I finally pulled the trigger and went for it. I’m so blessed to have such a loving support system that is always there for me and encouraged me to follow my dreams. I’ve only been out here a week, but I already feel like I’ve done so much!!
First, I’m sure you’re wondering what I’m doing down here anyway lol I’ve started working with a style blogger named Lauren Amanda (www.lovelyluxe.net and @lovelyluxe on IG) as her stylist assistant. Basically, I help her and her stylist with brand research, showroom pulls, photo shoots and anything else they may need help with. It is so rewarding doing what I love and that much better that the people I work with are pretty great too.
As for fun stuff besides work (honestly though, is it really work if you enjoy what you’re doing??) the first event I went to was the Beverly Center Mall Grand Reveal! A ton of stores in the mall were having events and they had a panel of famous bloggers and celebrities speaking at a VIP event. I got to meet three of my favorite bloggers there (@jaceyduprie, @rrayyme, and @ownbyfemme on Instagram) too! I tried hard not to be star struck, but they were all just as amazing as I’d imagined they’d be. At the event, you got complementary drinks and hors d’oeuvres, a chance to get a picture on the runway, and get yourself drawn as a fashion illustration by teachers at FIDM! I met great people who I hope to get to work with in the future. Oh! Also as a special gift, I received free valet parking at the Beverly Center Mall for a year! Can’t wait to come back and shop another day!
I also got to attend a Lush Beauty Event at the Century City Mall! The event was hosted by the famous Drag Queen Kim Chi who I got to meet, talk with and get plenty of selfies. I had VIP access, which meant I got to enter the event without waiting in line, be one of the first to talk to Kim Chi, and I left with a goody bag filled with bath bombs and other goodies!
Something I’ve wanted to do for a while was go to the Broad Museum because they have this incredible exhibit called the Infinity Mirrors Room. It is literally breathtaking. The picture I took looks cool, but cannot do it justice. If you ever get a chance to see an infinity mirror room – do it. The wait for the exhibit was 2 and a half hours so I signed-in to seal my spot in line and went around to the rest of the exhibits which were pretty amazing too.
Every evening, I get to sit by the pool and watch the beautiful sunset. I am truly so happy with my decision to move across the country. Yes, it was scary to go so far by myself, but it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made. So many other things have happened and continue to happen and all I can say is I’m so thankful, grateful, and blessed <3
