Hey hey! Today’s post is all about my top packing tips! This upcoming week I’ll be headed back to my home town in Columbus for about a week and will only be taking a carry on and backpack with me! After spending four years as a collegiate track athlete having minimal packing space when we travel, I’ve learned a few tips and tricks that I’ll be sharing with you today. The Luggage I’m taking with me is the Calpak 22in Hardside Spinner (here) and their packing cubes! Now let’s hop into these tips!

1. Take Flatlays of Your Outfits
I do this for both planning photo shoots and when I’m traveling! This helps you figure out exactly what you’re going to wear on your trip from your shoes to accessories so you don’t overpack. And when you’re on your trip, you’ll know exactly what piece goes with what! When working with celebrity stylists, they also do this for their clients so once they leave the appointment, the celebrity isn’t left to guess what pairs with what. Plus I find it pretty fun!
2. Use Packing Cubes
These are a life saver when it comes to saving space! The one I got from Calpak was on a major discount from getting them at Nordstrom Rack! It’s a five piece set with a large cube (featured on the right), a medium cube, two small cubes (featured on top left), and a small pouch (bottom left). These not only keep you organized, but I swear I can get more clothes packed when I use these! I like to use the largest cube for bulky items like sweaters, jeans, and outerwear. In the smaller one, I fit in clothes that take up less space and can fold down really small and then things like socks and underwear in the smallest pouch.
3. Keep Your Necklaces in Baggies
Now this tip is a GAME CHANGER. I know everyone has struggled with packing jewelry, especially necklaces. The only real solution was to buy an expensive jewelry holder and with that you have a limited number of pieces you can take. Well no longer! This is another amazing tip I’ve gained working with some of the top stylist’s and it’s to store your necklaces with the tip hanging out of a baggie so nothing gets tangled – brilliant! So simple and easy, yet no one knows about it. I hope you take this tip and run with it because I know I will be packing waaaay more necklaces on trips with me knowing it won’t take an hour to untangle them all!
4. Pack Neutrals to Make Infinite Outfit Options
Neutral colors are the most versatile pieces I think ever and are great for going on trips when you have limited packing space. You will always, know that pieces will go together and if you’re someone that stresses a lot about what to pack on trips, this will be a major help in the future!
5. Plan Your Outfits Ahead of Time According to What You’ll be Doing
This tip goes along with taking your flat lay pictures – if you know what you’ll be doing on the trip, plan your outfits accordingly! This, again, helps you from over packing and you’ll know exactly what you’ll be wearing on each day. I’ll be going home to celebrate my birthday with my family and will also be attending a friends wedding! So I’m making sure to pack outfits for each special day and for more relaxed days when I don’t have to be too dressed up.
6. Roll vs Fold
The ultimate space saver! Rolling your clothes instead of folding them saves so much space, you’ll be able to pack a few more outfits! I learned this tip a few years ago and have never looked back. It takes no time at all and when you put them in the packing cubes, it’s a match made in heaven.
Those are my top packing tips! Leave me a comment on what you do to save space in your suitcase!
